GreenWay Updates Pricing: Expanding Program Offerings Based on Customer Feedback

17.09.2024

GreenWay, the largest charging service operator in Central and Eastern Europe, continuously monitors market trends and adapts its services to meet the needs of its customers. When GreenWay introduced monthly plans with prepaid energy in Slovakia back in 2021, it was a groundbreaking move that other operators soon followed. However, customer feedback has shown that people prefer access to affordable per-kilowatt-hour rates rather than focusing on the amount of prepaid energy. Experiences from large operators in Europe also reveal that prepaid energy isn’t a priority for customers. The monthly fee is seen more as an entry point to better per-kilowatt-hour rates. GreenWay has decided to move in this direction as well.

Starting October 1, 2024, GreenWay will adjust its pricing and introduce a new monthly plan, GreenWay Energia Premium, designed for EV drivers who cover long distances and need to charge frequently on public networks. This plan includes 150 kWh of prepaid energy and offers exceptionally favorable charging rates after the prepaid limit is exceeded – €0.29/kWh at regular chargers and €0.40/kWh at all fast chargers. The monthly fee will be €59.90, VAT included. This plan will be more beneficial for those who use more energy than the current Energia Max plan offers.

Additionally, GreenWay is addressing feedback from customers who didn’t fully use their prepaid energy in the current Energia Max plan. The monthly fee for this plan will be reduced to €21.90, VAT included, and it will include 50 kWh of prepaid energy. After using the prepaid energy, the rates will be €0.29/kWh at regular chargers and €0.45/kWh at all fast chargers. This plan will be more beneficial for those who haven’t used the full amount of prepaid energy in their current Energia Max plan.

The monthly fees and prepaid energy amounts in the GreenWay Energia Standard and Energia Plus plans will remain unchanged.

"The Premium plan not only includes a generous amount of energy but also provides drivers with truly advantageous rates after the free energy is used, with a post-limit rate of 40 cents at all charging points with a power output between 25 kW and 200 kW," says GreenWay CEO Peter Badík. He adds, "With the restructuring of the Max and Premium plans, the more our clients charge, the better the rates they enjoy, without worrying about exceeding their energy limit – because the rates after the limit are just as favorable."

 GreenWay Network, Always Within Reach

In the early stages of e-mobility in Slovakia, when GreenWay was the first operator building its network, it was important to offer charging services at as many stations as possible. Today, with 859 charging points at 321 locations, GreenWay customers can rely on the availability of GreenWay chargers throughout Slovakia. As a result, GreenWay will discontinue its "Roam like at home" policy in the new price list, which previously applied to charging with roaming partners. "Although we believe that a unified price across all networks is the best and most transparent option for our customers, the current setup of roaming fees between operators has made this policy economically unsustainable for us," explains the GreenWay CEO. The prices between operators have remained consistently higher than the rates for end customers, forcing the company to subsidize customer charging in many cases.

"We hope to return to the 'Roam like at home' policy in the future, once this unusual market situation improves," adds Peter Badík.

GreenWay services will, of course, remain available at roaming stations both domestically and abroad. Before each charge, customers can check the exact price and charging conditions through the GreenWay EV Charging mobile app or in the Customer Zone on the website.

GreenWay: The Green Path

GreenWay is committed to providing energy for EV charging exclusively from local renewable sources wherever technically possible, thanks to its partnership with Greenlogy, an energy supplier. This Slovak energy provider guarantees that every kilowatt delivered in the GreenWay network comes with a green certificate. "This is the minimum standard today for energy to be labeled as green. However, we go even further by ensuring that not only do we purchase certificates like other operators, but the energy in our network genuinely comes from Slovak renewable sources. With a small premium on electricity costs, we can guarantee truly green charging in the GreenWay network," concludes CEO Peter Badík.
